Record Turnout, Tight Competition Highlight June 29 Social Scramble at Wawenock
The June 29 social scramble at Wawenock Golf Club was one for the books—literally. With 45 players participating in teams of four, it was the most successful scramble event the club has ever hosted, featuring great weather, good laughs, and plenty of friendly competition.
Leading the field with an impressive six-under-par finish was the team of MacKenna Poole, Kobe Lincoln, Robert Clifford, and Matt Poole, taking home first place honors.
Three teams finished tied at three under par, triggering a lively putt-off on the practice green to determine the second-place finisher. After some clutch putting, the team of Craig Lichtewalner, Ryan Bassit, Chuck Meintel, and Matt Corson claimed the runner-up spot.
Honorable mentions went to the team of Ann Sears, Herb Sears, Peter Lavelle, and Lisa Lavelle, who notched seven pars—the most in the competition.
Meanwhile, the Etheridge team earned a round of applause and a prize for “most honest” performance, finishing with seven bogeys.
Adding to the fun, a separate putt-off determined the team with the highest score on par-3s. After a close contest, Dan White sank the winning putt to edge out Olivia Poole, securing bragging rights for his team, which also included Peter Lewis, Jack O’Keefe, and Melissa O’Keefe.
With its biggest turnout yet and a mix of competition and camaraderie, the June 29 scramble was a standout event in the Wawenock summer calendar.
